Eggs Rugby

Welcome to the official website of the Capio Eggs Rugby Team.

Eggs Rugby was born in Cornwall in 2001, with a team playing sevens under the Old Edgarians name at Penryn Easter Sevens. The team was purely social, with an emphasis on players aged 25+ who no longer played 15s rugby and wanted to play sevens for a bit of fun. Over the following years the team grew in reputation and stature, with a name for solid organisation and a powerful sevens brand.

Today the team competes in tournaments nationally at Open level, playing as Capio Eggs as part of our sponsorship agreement with Capio Elements Ltd. The Eggs play at Open level, competing with the best sevens teams in the UK and Europe. The Eggs are an invitational team, and in 2012 over 50 players wore the famous Eggs jersey over our 6-tournament schedule - coming from club sides across England, Scotland and France. Eggs rugby maintains a social rugby ethos, and in 2013 the Old Edgarians name will return - as our social sevens team that will compete in local tournaments.

The Eggs are the current Penryn Easter Sevens Champions, reached the Semi-Finals at North Petherton7s, Quarter-Finalists at Newquay Surf7s in the Sailors Open, and Semi-Finalists in the Newquay Surf7s Akuma Cup.

2013 promises to be an amazing year for Eggs rugby, with more tournaments than ever before, fantastic sponsors and the always present Eggs-spirit of free-flowing and adventurous sevens rugby.
